This scholarship was established in 2021 by Professor Aaron and Mrs. Kristin Christie in honor of Edison Sabin (July 13, 2015 – May 14, 2016).
Edison, son of Jessica and Nathan Sabin, was born with serious developmental issues. He was reborn, holy and dearly loved, in a miracle of grace through the washing of Holy Baptism. Edison’s heavenly life began less than a year later with his death at the age of ten months.
The Christies established the scholarship out of gratitude to Edison’s parents and his grandparents, Scott and Barb Rawlins, for their ongoing friendship and support of gospel ministry.
“The kingdom of God belongs to precious children like Edison,” said Professor Christie. “May his memory encourage WELS churches and schools to eagerly engage in gospel ministry with those with special needs.”
Scholarship recipients are MLC special education majors who exhibit scholastic merit and a heart for gospel ministry.
